Case Study: Jane Brimlow, SJ Wiliams Opticians, Saffron Waldron, Essex / Alex Sutherland Image Works

We wanted to bring the opticians up to date so customers knew that we had the most modern, up to date range of products on the market. Despite requiring an up-to-date interior we also wanted elements of the shop to retain the character and pride our local customers have in the period charm of Saffron Waldron.

Did you have any requirements or instructions which were specific to your project, retail space or customer needs?

As with any building which is two or three centuries old the fabric of the property had to be respected. We needed a modern feel but one which also reflected the established roots of the business together with the heritage of the local area.

Project Overview: Updating an existing opticians’ retail space.

“We are located in a Grade 2 listed building so everything had to be bespoke made and work had to be carried out for example around existing posts.”

"We had complete trust in CJS (NW) and so were able to leave them with a key and felt they could be left to it."

What would your feedback be to a friend or contact when they require design or shop-fitting services?

CJS (NW) completed the project on time. We had complete trust in them and so were able to leave them with a key and felt they could be left to it. They were highly competent and got on with the work required.

I would be happy to recommend them to others.
